Cold storage project heats up StoreLogs' growth plans
A West Yorkshire temperature-controlled logistics specialist is expanding its storage capacity with the development of a new £13 million cold storage facility.
StoreLogs has appointed Russell WBHO to deliver the design-and-build project at its existing depot and head office in Langthwaite Business Park, South Kirkby.
The Manchester-based main contractor will construct a 46,250sq ft unit, adding capacity for more than 12,800 pallets.
The single-skin building will be temperature controlled to -24C and include advanced refrigeration technology designed to exceed the UK’s best practice benchmark for energy performance.
Russell WBHO will also deliver insulated cladding, mobile racking, mechanical and electrical services and an external service yard.
Gareth Russell, managing director of Russell WBHO, said: “This contract builds on our extensive experience in the temperature-controlled sector.
“Following a collaborative design process, our specialist in-house team is delivering a unit that will significantly boost capacity, efficiency and environmental sustainability at StoreLogs’ head office site.
“The refrigeration system provides industry-leading temperature control and has been proven to reduce carbon emissions.”
Paul Martin, managing director of StoreLogs, added: “Our investment in this new facility reflects the growing demand for cold-chain warehousing and distribution services and will strengthen our ability to serve food manufacturers, retailers and supply-chain operators across the North.
“The design ensures optimal conditions for our clients’ products and maximises space, enabling us to increase pallet capacity by more than 50 per cent in South Kirkby while minimising our carbon footprint.”
Work is now under way on site, with completion scheduled for May 2027.
