Law firm 'commits to city' with 'significant' office deal
A law firm is eyeing growth after unveiling an office move.
DAC Beachcroft is switching to Leeds’ 31 Wellington Street.
Bosses say the 15-year lease “reflects its ambitions and position as a major employer in Leeds’ legal sector”.
They add the company will occupy 14,300 sq ft across the top two floors of the £60 million development when it moves into the hub late next year.
Louise Bloomfield, head of DAC Beachcroft’s Leeds office, which currently operates from the city’s Park Square South-based St Paul’s House, said: “This move underlines our long-term commitment to Leeds and the wider region.
“More than 230 staff in Leeds will relocate to the new building, including teams advising multinational corporations, listed companies, UK corporates, major insurers, healthcare bodies, public sector organisations and leading real estate businesses.
“The two top floors will give colleagues bright, contemporary and highly collaborative workspaces.”
The deal was brokered by global property consultancy Knight Frank’s Leeds office.
Eamon Fox, head of the firm’s Leeds hub, said: “This is one of the most significant deals in the city over the past 12 months.
“31 Wellington Street is a gamechanger for the Leeds office market, providing much-needed and very timely quality office space to satisfy pent-up demand.”
The office development is led by Prescient Capital, with Nottingham-based Clegg Construction operating as main contractor alongside firms including DLA Architecture; Quod; civil and structural engineer Roscoe; service engineer Thornley & Lumb; fire engineer BB7; Stantec; and Ridge.
Doug Friend, Prescient Capital director, added: “I’m absolutely delighted to welcome DAC Beachcroft to 31 Wellington Street.
“I am confident they will be extremely happy here.”
