Planning specialist moves to larger Hexham base

A North East planning consultancy has relocated to larger offices following a sustained period of expansion.

Hedley Planning has moved into 1800sq ft of office space at Tanners Burn House on Burn Lane in Hexham, more than doubling its previous capacity to support future growth and maintain high service standards.

The relocation follows the opening of the firm’s Newcastle office in 2024 and continued investment in skills and resources as it expands its regional and national presence.

Growth has been fuelled by planning reforms, increased activity in the housing and property markets, major regeneration schemes and a growing emphasis on sustainable development.

Recent successes include securing planning approval for the redevelopment of Hebburn FC, alongside gaining consent for hundreds of new homes across County Durham, Northumberland, North Yorkshire and Teesside.

Overall, the firm submitted or secured approval for more than 3300 homes across the North of England during 2025, with a further 1500 dwellings progressed in the first quarter of 2026.

To support increasing workloads, Hedley Planning has also created new graduate and senior planning roles as it continues to invest in its growing team.
