Property firm launches base to support start-ups

A property operator has bolstered its portfolio with a start-up venture.

North East Commercial has created Core Business Centre at Traynor Business Park, in Peterlee, East Durham.

Bosses say the five-figure endeavour will help “nurture an entrepreneurial culture… to allow tenants to bounce off each other and support growth plans”.

Based in the business park’s Traynor North building, they add it can host up to ten companies, with small offices catering for firms with as many as eight staff complemented by hot desks.

Andy Rothwell, North East Commercial director, said: “We know how daunting it can be to commit to your first office space, particularly when you’re a sole trader or small company.

“Creating a dedicated space, almost like an incubation community where businesses can share ideas and foster growth, was something we were thinking about for a while.

“It came about when we were approached by a current tenant around a year ago.

“It was a new start with two employees who needed a small office space to support their launch.

“We didn’t have anything suitable; however, we were able to convert a meeting room, which was exactly what they needed, and we believe there is demand for it.”
