Food hall operator 'hungry for expansion' after record results
A food hall and garden centre operator is eyeing expansion after record sales.
Weetons Leeds Road says it enjoyed its highest half-year results as demand countered a “challenging market and a weather-disrupted first quarter”.
And owner TGH Capital says the Harrogate venue’s success leaves it primed to grow, with bosses “reviewing additional northern sites”.
The blueprint includes a 30,000sq ft to 50,000 sq ft scheme combining food, retail, hospitality and lifestyle, with an “emphasis on experience, dwell time, repeat visitation and destination appeal”.
Based in Pannal, on the outskirts of Harrogate, TGH Capital says Weetons Leeds Road welcomes more than 10,000 customers every week and includes a food hall, restaurants and a home and garden section.
Liam Gill, of TGH Capital, said: “The half-year has been a record period, with more than ten per cent like-for-like growth.
“That tells us the proposition is resonating.”
He added: “We are actively reviewing opportunities for additional Weetons sites in the North of England.
“We will be selective, but the right large-format site, in the right catchment, could support a second flagship destination.”
