Mortgage advisor moves from box room to BIC
A Sunderland mortgage advisory firm has expanded its team and moved into dedicated offices after strong growth in its first three years.
Riverside Mortgage Advice has grown from a one-person business operating from a spare bedroom to a four-strong team based at the North East BIC.
Founded by Ashleigh Watson in October 2023, the independent firm provides mortgage advice across a range of lending areas, including first-time buyers, buy-to-let and self-employed borrowers.
It has also developed expertise in supporting clients with complex cases and adverse credit histories.
The expansion includes the appointment of apprentice James Curran, who is training to become a qualified mortgage adviser, alongside experienced advisers Cheryl Leighton and Erin Winship.
To support its continued growth, Riverside Mortgage Advice has also launched a new website, with the business saying the investment will help it meet increasing demand for its services across the region.
Ashleigh said: “I originally set up alone, working from my spare bedroom so it’s brilliant to welcome new people to the team.
“Bringing on board Cheryl, Erin and James allows us to support more clients while maintaining the direct, high-quality service we pride ourselves on.
“Moving to the BIC has allowed us to become part of a thriving and supportive business community and it has been the perfect catalyst for our growth.
“It has given us not only the physical office space we needed to expand the team, but also allowed us the opportunity to take on more business.”
Doreen Howard, centre manager at the North East BIC, added: “We’re thrilled to see the remarkable journey that Riverside Mortgage Advice is on.
“Ashleigh’s transition from working solo to building a dynamic four-person team in such a short time is a fantastic testament to her hard work.
“It’s brilliant to see the team fully embracing the spirit of the BIC community.
“We look forward to supporting Ashleigh and her team as they continue to thrive here at the BIC.”
