Property development firm in city hotel venture
A property development company has completed a 157-bedroom city hotel venture.
S Harrison has revamped an Edinburgh site to create a Meininger Hotels building.
The base is set to open next month.
Bosses say the Haymarket endeavour has “completely transformed a tired office building into a modern development”.
Overseen by principal contractor Ogilvie Construction and designed by Edinburgh-based Comprehensive Design Architects, the project demolished part of the 1970s Osborne House office building and added two accommodation wings and a top storey.
Ann Scott, managing director at York-headquartered S Harrison, said: “After working meticulously to create a vision for this building that suited its size and location, it’s fantastic to see it almost complete.”
Ajit Menon, Meininger Hotels’ chief executive, added: “Expanding into Edinburgh is a key tactical milestone.
“In partnership with S Harrison, we are thrilled to enhance the local hospitality offering and support the sustainable growth of Edinburgh’s tourism economy.”
The hotel follows S Harrison’s delivery of a Malmaison hotel in Edinburgh’s New Town and student accommodation schemes across the city.
The firm has additionally secured planning permission for a 124-bed student accommodation scheme in the city’s Gillespie Crescent, and has consent for a £100 million Leith-based mixed-use development.
