EMG expands private client team

Award-winning law firm EMG Solicitors, headquartered in Durham, has strengthened its private client offering with a series of appointments across its wills, trusts and probate team, as the business continues its national expansion.

Laura Clarke has joined the firm’s Penrith office as an associate, while Rachel Hunter was appointed as a solicitor in the Gosforth office.

Alex Lynas has also joined the team after qualifying as a solicitor earlier this year.

The appointments come during a period of continued growth for EMG, which recently opened new offices in Oxford and Nottingham, taking its national network to eight locations.

The firm’s private client team is recognised by The Legal 500 and advises clients on wills, trusts, probate, estate administration, inheritance tax planning, lasting powers of attorney and Court of Protection matters.

Led by director Samantha Edward, the team includes a number of STEP-accredited specialists and continues to expand its expertise as demand for private client services grows.

Samantha said: “We are seeing our team go from strength to strength, and I’m proud to be bringing together even more experience and expertise as EMG continues to expand across the country.

“In the wills, trusts and probate team, we’re seeing increased demand from individuals and families looking for support to mitigate inheritance tax within their estates following the changes made in the budget which has brought so many more families into a potential inheritance tax charge.

“Expanding our team means we can continue to provide a high-quality, personal service to our clients which is what we pride ourselves on.”

Stephanie Rodgers, departmental director for wills, trusts and probate, who is similarly STEP accredited, added: “We have strong values here at EMG that we live by, and they shape how we support individuals at every stage.

“We are dedicated to providing an excellent client service, giving confidence and clarity at all times.

“We can work around our clients’ needs, offering in-person appointments at our office or in the comfort of a client’s home, or meeting by Teams if that is preferred.”

The latest appointments follow EMG’s agreement to join Fletchers Group earlier this year, creating a dedicated Court of Protection and private client division to further strengthen support for clients across the UK.

Deborah Jude, director and solicitor at EMG, added: “EMG has built an outstanding reputation for private client work, combining technical expertise with a genuinely client-focused approach.

“The continued investment in our people and services demonstrates the firm’s commitment to supporting clients through some of the most important decisions in their lives, whether that is planning for the future, protecting loved ones or administering an estate.”
