Skills provider launches maiden apprentice drive
A skills provider has launched its maiden intake.
MTC Training Tyneside is recruiting its first apprentices for advanced manufacturing programmes in September.
Bosses say the “important milestone” will lay foundations for industry to “build a sustainable pipeline of talent that supports productivity, innovation and long-term growth”.
Spanning level three apprenticeship programmes across areas including mechatronics, maintenance technician and engineering fitter roles, they add learners will gain on-the-job experience and earn salaries alongside additional training at MTC Training Tyneside.
The recruitment drive comes after MTC Training – backed by Lloyds funding – earlier this year expanded to Cobalt Park, on the outskirts of Newcastle.
At the time, officials said the endeavour would train an initial 48 apprentices on level three and four courses across engineering and manufacturing disciplines, and operate alongside sister sites in Coventry, Oxfordshire and Liverpool.
David Grailey, MTC Training managing director, said: “The North East has a long and proud industrial heritage.
“As its manufacturing and engineering sectors continue to evolve, developing a skilled and dynamic workforce in our exciting sector is more important than ever.
“We’re looking forward to working with employers to help more people begin rewarding careers in engineering.”
