EMCON finds new home at Beacon of Light

A flagship engineering and manufacturing event is set to relocate to Sunderland’s Beacon of Light as organisers prepare for its biggest edition to date.

The Engineering & Manufacturing Network (EMN) has announced that EMCON 2027 will take place at the venue next spring, providing additional space for exhibitors, delegates and sponsors.

Now in its 19th year, EMCON has become one of the North of England’s largest engineering and manufacturing exhibitions, bringing together businesses from across the UK to strengthen supply chains, showcase innovation and develop new commercial opportunities.

The event regularly attracts more than 900 visitors and 120 exhibitors, with organisers expecting the move to support its continued growth.

EMN chair Richard Bradley said: “EMCON has developed significantly over the years and has become a must-attend event for anyone involved in engineering and manufacturing across the North of England.

“As the event has continued to grow, it became clear that we needed a venue that would enable us to take the next step.

“The Beacon of Light gives us the space, facilities and flexibility to create an even bigger and better experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.

“EMCON has always been about bringing people together, strengthening supply chains and creating opportunities for businesses to thrive.

“Our ambition for 2027 is to build on everything that has made the event such a success while introducing new features, more networking opportunities and an even stronger programme of content.”

Located alongside Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light, the Beacon of Light offers expanded exhibition and conference facilities, as well as improved transport links for visitors.

Alongside the exhibition, EMCON 2027 will feature an expanded programme of seminars, keynote speakers, panel discussions and networking events.

The conference will continue to focus on some of the sector’s biggest challenges and opportunities, including digital transformation, skills, sustainability, productivity and supply chain resilience.

EMCON brings together manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), suppliers and engineering businesses from across the region, creating opportunities to showcase products and services, share expertise and build new business relationships.

The Engineering & Manufacturing Network has organised the event for almost two decades as part of its work to connect businesses, encourage collaboration and help manufacturers access new markets and opportunities across the sector.

EMN board member and EMCON event director Kerina Clark said the event plays a vital role in supporting the long-term growth of the manufacturing community.
