South Yorkshire Future Trams names new chair

South Yorkshire Future Trams Limited has appointed Stéphanie Rivet as chair as the organisation continues the transition of Supertram into public ownership.

Stéphanie brings nearly 30 years’ experience across the light rail, heavy rail, bus and coach sectors.

Alongside her new role, she serves in non-executive positions with Edinburgh Trams and Lothian Buses.

As chair, Stéphanie will support the next phase of Supertram's development, helping oversee investment in the network and its role within South Yorkshire’s plans for a more integrated public transport system.

Stéphanie said: “My focus will be on ensuring SYFTL has the strong, effective board it needs to deliver through a significant period of investment and transformation, with governance, safety and financial stewardship at its heart. 

“Supertram is woven into the fabric of South Yorkshire – it connects people to opportunity, to each other and to the places that matter to them. 

“It is part of the region’s identity and its future. 

“I believe Supertram has the potential to be something the whole region takes genuine pride in – a modern, green, integrated network that reflects the ambition and resilience of the communities it serves.”

Stéphanie’s appointment comes as Supertram continues to invest in improving services and strengthening connections between tram, bus and rail.

South Yorkshire’s mayor Oliver Coppard added: “Stéphanie brings a wealth of experience from across the public transport sector and joins us at a hugely important moment for Supertram.

“As we continue building the South Yorkshire People’s Network, Supertram has a vital role to play in connecting people to opportunity. 

“Stéphanie’s oversight and insight will help us deliver our ambitions for a modern, integrated, world class public transport network.”
