Getting to know... Liam Hogan

In the latest instalment of Bdaily’s Getting to know… feature, which looks at the person behind the business profile, Liam Hogan, co-founder and head of fitness at London-based fitness app Veyr, talks about the joy he takes from helping people bring the best out of themselves, how football injuries steered him towards fitness coaching and being kept busy by his canine companions.

We know you as the co-founder and head of fitness at VEYR, but who is the person behind the title? Tell us a little about what makes you tick…

I’m 35, a proud dad to an incredible little boy, a fitness coach and an aspiring athlete.

I’m passionate about helping people become the best version of themselves, whether that’s family members, clients or people around me in everyday life.

Performance has always been a huge part of who I am, and I love finding ways to bring out the best in others.

I’ve always believed that with the right mindset, support and consistency, people are capable of far more than they realise.

Did you always want to work in the fitness sector?

Not originally.

My background was in football, but growing up I experienced a lot of injuries.

Because of that, I spent a huge amount of time around physios, rehab specialists and fitness coaches.

Looking back, that environment taught me so much about coaching, movement and education, without me realising at the time.

Those experiences naturally pushed me towards the fitness industry and helped shape the coach I am today.

What’s the best bit about your job? And the worst?

The thing I enjoy most is building programmes from scratch and then seeing them completely transform someone’s life.

Watching an idea become a real journey for a client is incredibly rewarding.

Whether it’s helping someone become stronger, healthier, more confident or simply happier in themselves, seeing progress unfold is what motivates me every day.

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

I’d say my greatest achievement is growing my fitness business to the point where we now support more than 500 clients.

It represents years of hard work, consistency and passion for helping people.

Building a community where people feel motivated, supported and inspired is something I never take for granted.

How do you relax outside of work?

I love having trips and adventures planned, whether that’s travelling abroad or heading away for a short break.

I really enjoy exploring new places and experiencing different cultures, and I often try to add mini adventures to the end of work trips whenever possible.

Outside of travel, family time is the biggest way I switch off.

Spending quality time with my little boy and girlfriend means everything to me.

What makes VEYR such a great place to work?

The way everyone is trusted to work and thrive in their own way.

Every person brings something different and valuable to the team, and we all work within our own specialist areas.

That allows people to focus on what they genuinely enjoy and are passionate about, which creates a really positive environment.

It is an amazing feeling to support so many people to live a more healthier and active lifestyle through our app.

Ultimately, we’re all living our lives at 100mph, so to know we’re developing a tool to help more people find the joy in exercise, live healthier lives and be able to educate and guide all those keen to work out, learn new skills and hit new personal bests is a wonderful feeling.

Tell us something about you we didn’t know…

I have two dogs that couldn’t be more opposite.

One is a sausage dog and the other is a Dalmatian.

They definitely keep life interesting and active outside of the gym.

Between the two of them, there’s never a quiet moment.
