Building supplies merchant appoints branch manager

Scottish timber and building materials merchant St Andrews Timber & Building Supplies has appointed Jamie Kerr as branch manager of its Edinburgh headquarters.

Jamie brings 30 years’ experience in the timber and building supplies sector, joining from Thornbridge Timber where he spent 16 years as part of the management team. 

His career also includes roles with Firstbase Timber and Keyline.

In his new role, Jamie will oversee the continued growth and development of St Andrews’ flagship Edinburgh branch, with responsibility for its product offering, customer base and operational systems.

Jamie, who is replacing the retiring Richard Harley, said: “I’m hugely customer driven, passionate about the industry and always keen to learn about new products. 

“I am a stickler for organisation and very meticulous. 

“I’m very much looking forward to developing, strengthening and improving the powerhouse of our biggest branch while ensuring we all have a happy and fun environment to work in.”

Jamie’s appointment reflects St Andrews Timber & Building Supplies’ continued investment in its branch leadership, strengthening its Edinburgh headquarters as the business continues to grow.

Ronnie Robinson, managing director of St Andrews Timber & Building Supplies, added: “Prestonfield has grown from a small branch to our largest one now turning over upwards of £10 million.

“It has a great mix of house builders, everyday tradesman and local DIY enthusiasts and Jamie has exciting plans to further grow and develop what was our first facility in Edinburgh in 2002. 

“I have known Jamie for over 20 years and have always admired his knowledge, organisation skills and keen mind. 

“We are delighted to have Jamie’s experience and personality on board. 

“He is great fun to be around and our HQ is in very safe hands.”
