GMI builds pipeline with four-lot framework win

A construction group has strengthened its public sector pipeline after securing places on four lots of a new framework covering the Midlands and North of England.

GMI Construction Group, which has offices in Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Stockton-on-Tees, has been appointed to every lot it bid for on the Crescent Construction framework.

Operated by Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC), the framework provides public sector organisations with a compliant route to procure new-build, refurbishment and wider capital works.

GMI’s appointments cover two NEC4 contract routes across both the North and Midlands, spanning professional services and design-and-build projects.

Unlike many frameworks, the lots are not divided into project value bands, allowing GMI to compete for work across a broad range of sizes.

The framework can be accessed by schools, colleges and universities alongside local authorities, blue-light services and other public bodies.

The appointment builds on GMI’s growing public sector workload, with such clients currently accounting for 26 per cent of its live construction projects.

Bosses say the framework will provide another route to strengthen existing relationships, develop new partnerships and become involved earlier in the planning of capital projects.

Clients will be able to appoint contractors through direct awards or further competition, providing flexibility across both new-build and refurbishment schemes.
