PTSG expands fire safety offering with ‘strategic fit’

A facilities management and construction sector services firm has strengthened its building safety offering with the acquisition of a specialist fire compliance group.

Castleford-headquartered Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG) has bought Mansfield-based IDSL Group Holdings, a move it says establishes the business as the UK’s largest passive fire operator.

IDSL incorporates Integrated Doorsets, Fire Door Inspection Solutions, Hartland Fire and Fire Doors Rite, providing expertise across fire door inspection, remediation and manufacturing.

Bosses say the deal significantly expands PTSG’s capabilities across passive fire inspection, testing, certification, remediation and lifecycle compliance, while increasing its addressable market.

The combined business will offer services spanning technical surveys and evidence-based remediation through to certification, ongoing maintenance and specialist manufacturing, strengthening PTSG’s ability to support building owners throughout the lifecycle of their passive fire assets.

Paul Teasdale, executive chairman of PTSG, said: “This acquisition represents an outstanding strategic fit for PTSG because it strengthens our position in one of the UK’s most important and rapidly evolving compliance markets.

“The passive fire sector is undergoing fundamental change, with increasing emphasis on evidence, accountability and ongoing compliance throughout the life of a building.

“IDSL has built an exceptional reputation through its technical expertise, inspection capability and deep understanding of passive fire compliance.

“While its manufacturing capability is highly complementary, it is the knowledge, testing expertise and compliance-led approach that make this business such a compelling addition to the group.

“Together, we are creating an even stronger partner for customers facing increasingly complex regulatory obligations.”

The acquisition comes amid increasing demand for passive fire compliance as building owners respond to legislation including the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety (England) Regulations.

Greater regulatory scrutiny around accountability and traceability is also driving a shift towards ongoing inspection and maintenance rather than one-off replacement programmes.

By combining IDSL’s technical knowledge and manufacturing capabilities with its existing operations, PTSG expects to improve supply chain resilience and accelerate the delivery of complex fire safety projects while retaining greater control over quality and certification.

Ash Malhan, IDSL’s chief executive, added: “Founded on technical excellence, IDSL has built an outstanding reputation for helping organisations achieve and maintain compliance across some of the UK’s most demanding environments, including healthcare, education, social housing, commercial property and the wider public sector.

“The business is recognised for its technical expertise, proprietary testing knowledge and evidence-based approach to passive fire protection, enabling customers to make informed, compliant decisions while reducing unnecessary replacement and improving long-term asset performance.”

The acquisition forms part of PTSG’s strategy of investing in specialist businesses operating within regulation-led markets.

Its existing services span access and safety, electrical services, building access, fire solutions and water treatment.

Greg Ward, chief executive of PTSG, added: "Our strategy is to build market-leading positions in specialist compliance services and this acquisition is a perfect example of that approach in action.

“Passive fire protection is becoming increasingly inspection-led, data-led and compliance-driven, creating significant long-term opportunities for businesses with the technical capability to support customers throughout the lifecycle of their buildings.

“IDSL brings exactly those strengths. Its expertise in inspection, testing, certification and evidence-based remediation enhances our existing Fire Solutions division and enables us to provide customers with an even more comprehensive compliance offering.

“The addition of specialist manufacturing capability further strengthens that proposition by giving us greater control over delivery and supporting faster, more resilient execution of critical remediation programmes.”
