Work begins on 84-home East Hull scheme
Work has begun on 84 “much-needed” affordable homes as part of a major regeneration programme in East Hull.
National partnership housing specialist Lovell has broken ground on the latest phase of the transformation of the Ings estate in East Hull.
Located off Balham Avenue, the development will feature two, three and four-bedroom properties for affordable rent and shared ownership.
It forms part of a wider multi-million-pound regeneration programme set to deliver more than 700 homes through a partnership between Lovell, Compendium Living, Hull City Council and Together Housing.
Around 400 mixed-tenure homes have already been delivered, alongside a new neighbourhood park connecting to Bluebell Fields.
Officials say the latest properties will feature wall insulation, solar panels, electric vehicle charging and water-saving fixtures.
Plans also include a central green space, new trees and hedges, play areas and walking routes.
Meanwhile, Lovell is working with local organisations to provide employment and training opportunities, while supporting community groups and charities including Emmaus Hull, Autism Plus and the Ings community garden and residents’ association.
Alex Isted, Lovell regional managing director Eastern, said: “The major regeneration at the Ings estate demonstrates what long-term partnerships can achieve.
“We look forward to working with Hull City Council, Together Housing, Compendium Living and our valued supply chain partners to successfully deliver this important phase over the next two years, contributing to the long-term regeneration and growth of the area.”
Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, the portfolio holder for regeneration and housing at Hull City Council, added: “It is fantastic to see this new housing development start on site, to deliver 84 much-needed affordable homes for the local community.
“The partnership between the Council, Lovell and Together Housing represents a great opportunity for a high-quality affordable housing scheme to prevail – I’m excited to see the new homes when they are complete.”
Dai Howells, assistant director of development at Together Housing, added: “This phase of the Ings regeneration scheme is part of Together Housing’s continued commitment to the transformation of the Ings community.
“We are delighted to be working with our partners to provide affordable homes to the people of Hull, providing more opportunities for local people to access quality housing to rent or buy.”
The project is supported by Homes England and the UK Government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund.
