Fleet investment puts AFFA on growth track

An Oxfordshire logistics firm is putting growth plans into top gear with a £200,000 investment in its vehicle fleet.

Abingdon-based Abingdon Freight Forwarding Agency (AFFA) has added ten trucks to support increasing demand across its road freight and pallet delivery operations.

The additions comprise four 7.5-tonne, four 18-tonne and two 26-tonne vehicles, taking the company’s overall fleet to 19 trucks and 13 trailers.

AFFA, which employs 26 people, has been a shareholder member of Pallet-Track since 2005, handling pallet collections and deliveries across Oxford and Aylesbury postcodes.

Its new vehicles feature dual-branded curtains celebrating the long-standing partnership.

Further investment is planned later this year, with AFFA preparing to refresh more of its fleet with double-deck trailers, straight-frame trucks and additional 26-tonne vehicles.

The business is also investing in its workforce, recently promoting 24-year-old Harry Bonser to general manager after he joined AFFA as a Class 1 HGV driver aged 21.

Abbas Karim, director at AFFA, said: “The investment in new vehicles is driven by recent business growth and our desire for increased brand recognition on the road.

“As a young, energetic, and agile team, we have real ambition to expand the business and plan to achieve this by increasing our general haulage operations and national presence.

“Pallet Track has facilitated our growth to date by providing our business with credibility and enabling us to build customer trust.

“It has enabled AFFA to deliver to customers not only across the UK, but also into Europe, which has broadened both our service reach and customer base.

“This has given us a solid foundation on which to grow our services and the reach of our business, and we will continue to invest in our fleet and the training of our team as we expand.

“We’re bringing a younger generation into the industry and we’re proud to be able to offer our team an environment in which they can learn and progress.”

Stuart Godman, chief executive at Pallet-Track, added: “We are immensely proud to see one of our shareholder members go from strength to strength growing their operations.

“The team at AFFA have made significant investments in updating their fleet, ensuring they have the flexibility and agility customers now require.

“This is fantastic news not only for them, but for the wider network.

“We look forward to supporting and watching the team grow and thrive.”
