VASO appoints commercial development head

A Scottish construction technology business developing structural panels from recycled glass has strengthened its team with a senior commercial appointment as it moves towards production.

Dumfries-based VASO has appointed Pete Crouch as head of commercial development, taking its growing team to 15.

Pete brings more than 35 years of commercial experience and joins as the business progresses plans to bring its structural composite panels to the housing and construction markets.

Pete said: “VASO is solving two problems at once, turning waste glass into the homes we urgently need, faster and more sustainably than traditional construction.

“My role is to bring that solution to the market at scale, and I’m delighted to be joining the team which is creating real opportunity for the region and beyond whilst making a positive impact on the housing conditions where people live.”

Pete’s appointment comes after planning permission was secured for the first housing development to use VASO’s product at Closeburn, while work has begun on its first production line at a new Dumfries factory.

VASO, which has secured more than £5 million of investment, is also planning to construct a showcase demonstration house this autumn.

Pete’s arrival follows the recent appointment of Jim Patterson as manufacturing and engineering manager, alongside the addition of Graham McDonald as chairman and Douglas Morrison as strategic advisor.
