Able Construction appoints non-executive director
Gateshead-based Able Construction has appointed Angela Carney as a non-executive director, strengthening its leadership team with more than 30 years of industry experience.
Angela is managing director of Carney Consultancy, which provides quality, safety, health and environmental consultancy and training to the built environment sector.
Alongside her business career, she holds a number of industry positions across the region, including co-chair of Working Well Together North East and a place on the board of Constructing Excellence in the North East.
She is also president of the Northern Counties Builders Federation and supports the National Association of Women in Construction North East as a schools liaison, as well as serving on the committee of the Lighthouse Club Construction Charity.
Angela said: “I am delighted to join Able Construction as non-executive director.
“Having built Carney Consultancy from scratch 24 years ago, I have helped develop long term careers for members of my own team including our directors, who are now running the business.
“I am looking forward to offering strategic and independent business advice, which has a focus on action planning and strengthening leadership skills, such as communication, delegation and strategic thinking.”
Established in 1987, Able Construction delivers design and build, general construction and refurbishment projects across sectors including social housing, education and healthcare.
Angela’s appointment adds further industry experience to its leadership team as the contractor continues to develop its operations across the region.
Ken Parkin, managing director at Able Construction, added: “I am so pleased that Angela has accepted this key role as I have always been impressed by her drive, enthusiasm and ability to get things done.
“As non-executive director, she will bring a huge amount of knowledge and experience, particularly in people development, training and health and safety, all of which are key areas of any business.
“Angela will also bring strategic oversight across the business, providing added strength at board level and independent scrutiny, constructive challenge and support to the executive and senior management team.”
