CCL Facades appointed to second phase of Our Cultural Heart
Specialist facade contractor, CCL Facades, has been appointed to deliver a package of works on phase two of Our Cultural Heart, Kirklees Council’s flagship development in Huddersfield.
The second phase of the regeneration scheme will see main contractor, BAM Construction, convert the former Grade II listed library on Princess Alexandra Walk into a new museum and art gallery.
Due to start in September 2027, CCL Facades’ work on the project will include the installation of a 1,400m2 steel framing system, 300m2 curtain walling, 700m2 of anodised / PPC aluminium cladding and 900m2 stone cladding, as well as 100m2 of bespoke rooflights and AOVs.
The appointment follows CCL Facades’ successful completion of external work on phase one of Our Cultural Heart, for which the contractor has been shortlisted in the Best Use of a Curtain Walling System category at the 2026 Facades Awards UK.
CCL Facades’ presence in the region also includes its delivery of the curtain walling facade at Luminate Education Group’s new Harrogate College campus and the completion of the external envelope at Project Dahlia, a new commercial office development in Rotherham.
Paul Dodsworth, Group Managing Director at Caddick Construction Group commented: “We are very grateful to BAM Construction for entrusting this project to CCL Facades and are proud to continue our work on this landmark regeneration project with our appointment to the second phase. We’re honoured to further our contribution to a development that will provide Huddersfield residents and visitors with a new cultural and social hub. Utilising our extensive expertise with complex heritage projects, we will carefully safeguard the site’s 90-year heritage while positively contributing to a state-of-the-art cultural destination.”
