Katie Ramsey, who has been appointed to the board of the EIS Association

EIS Association appoints board director

The EIS Association has appointed Katie Ramsey to its board of directors as it continues to champion entrepreneurship and private investment into UK startups and scale-ups.

Katie is head of the global venture capital unit at the Government’s Office for Investment and previously served as head of fintech at the Department for Business and Trade.

Her earlier career included roles as an equities fund manager and algorithmic trader with asset managers and global investment banks, including BlackRock.

She is also an investor across sectors including fintech, wellness, artificial intelligence and robotics, and is founder of The Power Collective and co-founder of InvestHER.

Katie said: “I’m delighted to join the EIS Association’s board and support its work championing EIS and SEIS.

“These schemes play a vital role in connecting private capital with ambitious founders and innovative businesses across the UK.

“I am looking forward to working with the Association and its members to help strengthen the UK’s investment ecosystem and support our next generation of high-growth companies.”

Katie joins the board on a temporary basis following the departure of Andrew Aldridge in April, after three years with the organisation.

Her appointment comes as the EIS Association continues to promote the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme as routes for directing private capital into growing businesses.

The schemes have facilitated £35.5 billion of private investment into more than 62,000 startups and scaleups to date, with the Association highlighting increasing investment activity across regions including the North East, North West and Midlands.

Joanna Jensen, chair of the EIS Association, added: “Katie brings outstanding insight into the changing needs of businesses through her role at the Department for Business, Innovation, Science & Technology, driving the Venture Capital Unit, and supporting the recent launch of the Sovereign AI Fund.

“Having her as part of the EIS Association’s board is great news for all of our members.”
