Buying or selling a home can be one of life’s most stressful experiences. EMG Solicitors, a B Corp-certified law firm headquartered in the North East, is doing all it can to adapt to changes in the market, while keeping clients at the heart of everything it does and ensuring the process runs as smoothly as possible.

Here, N magazine speaks to Andrew Allon, senior associate and departmental lead of residential conveyancing, about how EMG Solicitors continues to focus on client care, getting the basics right and living by its values.

EMG Solicitors is an award-winning Legal 500 firm, providing expert legal advice across residential conveyancing, Court of Protection, deputyships, family law and mediation, education law and wills, trusts and probate.

The growing law firm now has 14 offices across the UK and a team of more than 300 colleagues, further strengthening its services and ability to provide specialist, accessible legal advice to more clients nationally.

Having worked in residential conveyancing for more than 15 years, Andrew Allon brings a wealth of experience to property transactions and has adapted to many changes in the housing industry, while championing innovation in the conveyancing process.

Over the years, there have been continued efforts to improve the process of buying and selling a home.

In June 2026, the Government proposed an industry shake-up to reduce delays, cut costs and help prevent sales from falling through, and to make greater use of digital tools.

Andrew says: “The sector as a whole is broadly supportive of any new legislation that can make buying and selling a home easier for people. I think a digital approach is just what we need in a modern world.

“For it to work, it must be adopted across the board by banks, lenders, Land Registry and other organisations involved.

“Thankfully at EMG, we already work closely and effectively with those other parties, which makes the process far more straightforward and helps to avoid any delays.”

“Our firm values, which we live by every day, mean everything to us; it’s about being kind, compassionate and understanding, while always working hard to protect a client’s position during the process”

EMG Solicitors has introduced several new ways of working to improve the process of buying and selling a home for its clients.

Andrew says: “We operate a pod system at EMG, giving our clients access to a small, dedicated team that looks after their property transaction from start to finish.

“This means there’s always someone on hand to provide updates and answer any questions.

“We also have separate onboarding and post-completion teams, ensuring clients are supported at every stage of the process.

“It’s also about getting the basics right.

“A big focus for EMG is communication and transparency. We believe good communication is key to delivering client excellence, which is why we are happy to stay in touch in whichever way works best for our clients, whether by phone, email or face-to-face.

“We also have an online calculator on our website so anyone can generate an instant quote for their property transaction and we’ve created a series of easy-to-follow videos that guide buyers through the process.

“They include everything from what to do first, our role as solicitors and getting ready for exchange and completion.”

EMG Solicitors’ residential conveyancing team supports clients across the UK. Their clients can also benefit from the expertise of the firm’s wider teams, including its wills, trusts and probate specialists.

The two teams work closely at EMG to ensure estate plans or wishes that clients have for their properties in the future are met.

Founded in 2014, EMG Solicitors is ranked in Tier 1 by Legal 500 for personal tax, trusts and probate and was named Private Client Firm of the Year at the Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards in 2024.

EMG is also rated 4.8 out of 5 on the ReviewSolicitors platform with more than 1200 client reviews.

EMG Solicitors prides itself on living its company values of cooperation, courage, excellence, integrity and kindness, with this approach making a significant difference to its clients.

Andrew adds: “At EMG, we go above and beyond doing just the legal work.

“Our firm values, which we live by every day, mean everything to us. It’s about being kind, compassionate and understanding, while always working hard to protect a client’s position during the process.

“We’re here to make things as stress-free as possible from beginning to end.

“We want the journey of buying a home to be as exciting as getting the keys.”
