Chetham’s appoints new chair

Manchester-based cultural and educational charity Chetham’s has appointed BGF chief executive Andy Gregory as chair of Feoffees.

Andy brings extensive business leadership and charitable governance experience and has spent much of his career supporting business growth across the North West, wider UK and Ireland.

As chief executive of growth capital investor BGF, he leads an organisation focused on backing growing businesses, while he also serves as chair of the BGF Foundation, which supports social mobility and opportunities for young people.

In his new role, Andy will work alongside Chetham’s board, leadership team and wider community to support its work across music, education and culture.

Andy said: “Chetham’s is one of the UK’s most remarkable educational institutions, with a proud history of transforming the lives of talented young people. 

“The organisation’s values resonate strongly with me, as does Manchester’s wider cultural landscape, given my own student days at the Royal Northern College of Music.

“This experience gave me an appreciation of the city's exceptional musical heritage, and I have seen first-hand the difference that education, mentorship and access to opportunities can make. 

“I am honoured to take on the role of chair of Feoffees and look forward to working with fellow trustees, staff, students, supporters and alumni to help shape the next chapter of Chetham’s success.”

Chetham’s is home to Chetham’s School of Music, Chetham’s Library and Stoller Hall in the heart of Manchester.

Andy succeeds Paul Lee as chair and will support the institution as it continues its work to widen access to music and education and use culture and learning to improve wellbeing.
