FARx appoints new chair

Biometrics technology company FARx has appointed former BT executive Chris Bruce as chair as it prepares for further UK and international expansion.

Chris brings more than 20 years of international technology leadership experience at BT Group, including serving as chief executive of BT Openzone Wi-Fi and overseeing connectivity for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

His career has also included launching services across Europe, the US and Asia and spending a decade on the board of the Wireless Broadband Alliance.

Chris is also a non-executive board director at Cambridge Wireless and chaired the steering committee behind the launch of Cambridge Tech Week in 2023.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining FARx as chairman at a time of strong momentum for the business. 

“The company's technology addresses one of the most critical challenges facing organisations today, how to securely verify identity in an era increasingly shaped by AI, deepfakes and sophisticated digital fraud.

“FARx has developed a genuinely innovative solution with significant global potential. 

“I look forward to working with the team to accelerate growth, build strategic partnerships and help drive the company's ambitious vision.”

Chris’ appointment follows FARx securing £625,000 in seed funding to support the expansion of its biometric authentication technology into international markets.

The company has developed a multi-factor authentication platform combining speaker, speech and facial recognition, with its technology patented in the UK and US.

FARx is targeting further growth across North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific and recently appointed technology sales specialist Clive Busby as vice president of sales and marketing.
