Housebuilder Bargate in 62-home estate plans

A housebuilder has submitted plans for a 62-home blueprint.

Bargate hopes to create a Hampshire Downs estate.

Bosses say the venture in Medstead, near Winchester, would feature one to five-bed homes and a number of bungalows.

They add 40 per cent of plots would be built as affordable housing and delivered alongside Bargate’s housing association parent company VIVID.

According to Fair Oak-headquartered Bargate, the homes would be fitted with air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points and solar panels, with the wider development planned to feature a children’s play park and public open spaces.

The firm has now submitted a reserved matters planning application to East Hampshire District Council, with a decision expected in the coming weeks.

Jonathan Quarrell, senior planning associate at Bargate, which has worked with Thrive Architects on the proposed estate, said: “We’re pleased to lodge detailed development plans to East Hampshire District Council.

“They offer a range of high-quality, energy-efficient homes, while respecting the character of the local area.

“We’ll continue to work with council officers, elected members and stakeholders as this planning application progresses.”
