Sybron marks milestone with B Corp certification
A cleaning, hygiene and catering distributor has strengthened its sustainability credentials after achieving B Corp certification.
Essex-headquartered Sybron, which supplies some of the UK hospitality sector’s largest operators, says the accreditation makes it the country’s largest B Corp-certified distributor in its field.
The certification recognises businesses that meet standards covering social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
It follows Sybron’s recent joint venture with B Corp-certified Lime Sustainable Supplies, a data-driven supply chain business, aimed at strengthening service and sustainability initiatives across the cleaning supplies market.
George Mason, Sybron’s sales and marketing director, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Sybron has achieved B Corp certification.
“We’re incredibly proud to join the global B Corp community, marking a major milestone in our journey.
“Achieving B Corp Certification reflects our commitment to building a business that creates a positive impact for our people, our customers, our communities and the planet.”
Matt Burtinshaw, Sybron’s group head of ESG, added: “I very much look forward to leading the business’ sustainability and ESG strategy moving forward, building on the progress already made and helping create even greater measurable impact across the business and wider supply chain.”
Based in Harlow, Sybron joins more than 10,000 B Corp-certified businesses globally, including more than 2600 in the UK.
B Corp certification is verified by non-profit organisation B Lab and assesses businesses across areas including governance, workers, communities, the environment and customers.
Companies must provide evidence of their performance and legally embed a commitment to purpose alongside profit in their company articles.
Chris Turner, chief executive of B Lab UK, added: “We are delighted to welcome Sybron to the B Corp community.
“Its commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and will help spread the notion that success in business is as much about people and planet as it is profit.”
