Work begins on Newton Aycliffe industrial scheme

A new 80,000sq ft commercial development in County Durham is on track for completion by the end of the year.

Manchester-based The Prime Group is progressing construction of Prime Point Durham at Aycliffe Business Park in Newton Aycliffe.

Located on Carlbury Road, close to the A167 and A1(M), the development will provide two warehouse units spanning 35,811sq ft and 39,829 q ft.

Both will include office space, eaves heights of up to 12 metres and 35 parking spaces, including electric vehicle charging points.

Imran Younus, commercial director at Prime Group, said: “The Prime Group has a solid track record in industrial development, and these two buildings will add fresh industrial stock with a highly desirable specification to the North East market. 

“We have no doubt as to their success.”

The scheme is being supported through the North East Commercial Property Investment Fund, managed by FW Capital and backed by the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority.

A seven-figure incentive has also been provided by North East mayor Kim McGuinness and the mayoral authority to address the development’s financial viability gap.

The project is aimed at attracting inward investment, supporting job creation and bringing additional high-quality industrial space to the market.
