Energy firm Lime nets women's basketball deal

A green energy firm has scored a sporting partnership.

Lime has become the official renewable energy partner of Super League Basketball’s Women’s League.

Bosses say the move reflects a “shared commitment to progress, ambition and a more sustainable future”.

The company – which supports homes and businesses to adopt solar power and battery storage apparatus – says the deal builds on a previously announced 30-job drive as it looks to expand across Scotland, England and Wales.

Jonny Wilson, head of commercial at Lime, which operates from a base in Clydebank, on the outskirts of Glasgow, said: “We believe sustainability and positive community impact go hand-in-hand.

“Women’s sport continues to grow at an incredible pace, and we’re proud to support a league that provides a platform for elite athletes while inspiring the next generation.”

Jim Saker, chair of the Women’s League – which includes teams such as Caledonia Gladiators, Leicester Riders and Newcastle Eagles – added: “Partnering with Lime is a really exciting step.

“This will help us continue to build the profile of the league, while connecting Lime with an increasingly engaged and passionate basketball audience.”
