Charity ball raises over £100,000 for good causes
A North East housebuilder has raised more than £100,000 for two charities at a fundraising ball.
Gateshead-headquartered Bellway North East raised £102,745 for Cancer Research UK and Variety, the Children’s Charity, at the event, which welcomed 384 guests to the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead.
Hosted by comedian and compere Steve Walls, the evening featured a charity auction, quiz and live entertainment.
Bellway has raised more than £5.1 million nationally for Cancer Research UK over the past decade and recently launched a partnership with Variety to support disabled and disadvantaged children.
The housebuilder has pledged to fund six specially adapted Variety Sunshine Coaches, with the first presented to a South Shields school earlier this year.
Emma Chesterton, sales director for Bellway North East, said: “This year’s charity ball was another fantastic night of fun, laughter and generosity which raised an incredible £102,745 – including a £10,000 donation from Bellway – for two very special charities.
“Both Cancer Research UK and Variety are Bellway’s national charity partners and each do invaluable work which we are so proud to support.
“I’d like to thank all staff, supporters and contractors who attended the event and helped make it a night to remember.”
