Fiducia appoints development underwriter

Leeds-based specialty insurance managing general agent Fiducia has appointed Gary Cooke as development underwriter to support the international expansion of its product lines.

Gary brings more than 45 years’ experience in the London insurance market, primarily within the cargo sector, having held senior underwriting positions at Talbot, Marketform, Advent, WISE and, most recently, Rokstone.

Throughout his career, he has developed international cargo portfolios and built relationships with brokers, alongside extensive experience in business development and underwriting.

In his new role, Gary will focus on developing Fiducia’s international facility, strengthening its London market distribution and supporting future growth.

He will also assist the firm’s UK operations, which provide insurance cover across marine cargo, freight liability, engineering, marine equipment, fine art and specie, and terrorism.

Gary said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Fiducia as we celebrate a decade of being in business and commence with the next phase of our growth. 

“Fiducia has a strong reputation for best in-class service. 

“As we continue to expand our international capacity to meet growing demand, I look forward to supporting new and existing brokers with access to specialist insurance for complex risks.”

Founded by chief executive Gerry Sheehy, Fiducia began underwriting in 2016 and is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

The business is backed by certain underwriters at Lloyd’s and other insurers.
