Brandsmiths bolsters senior legal team
A specialist intellectual property law firm has strengthened its Manchester and London teams with two senior appointments as it continues to expand its services.
Brandsmiths has welcomed Samuel Coppard and Hanna Tiyamiyu as senior associates, bringing additional expertise across intellectual property litigation, trade marks, copyright and designs.
Samuel joins the firm’s London office from international law firm RPC, where he developed experience in intellectual property disputes and litigation.
Samuel said: “Brandsmiths has been behind some of the most significant IP disputes of recent years, notably the recent Hasbro v SConnect proceedings and the landmark Lifestyle Equities v Amazon decision.
“I’m delighted to be joining a team recognised for its expertise in complex, high-stakes IP litigation and to be part of its continued success.”
Meanwhile, Hanna joins the Manchester team from European intellectual property firm HGF, strengthening Brandsmiths' growing trade marks, copyright and designs practice.
Hanna added: “Brandsmiths has built a strong reputation for its specialist approach and the quality of the brands it represents.
“I’m looking forward to working with colleagues across the firm to help clients protect and maximise the value of their brands.”
Their appointments follow a period of expansion for the firm, which advises major national and international brands on intellectual property protection and disputes.
Its recent work includes securing legal successes for clients such as Hasbro and Entain, alongside managing global intellectual property portfolios.
The recruitment also follows Brandsmiths’ acquisition of Sipara, which has helped establish the firm among the UK’s ten largest trade mark filers.
Adam Morallee, chief executive and founder of Brandsmiths, added: “Both Hanna and Samuel bring valuable experience in two core areas of our practice, so we’re delighted to welcome them to our team.
“As the firm continues to grow, investing in exceptional talent is key to strengthening our offering and making sure we can deliver the best possible advice to clients.”
