Gmail IM
With Platform OneGoogle has announced that it is integrating its popular email service with its instant messaging (IM), allowing users to chat and send e-mails from the same web browser window. With this new feature, called “Gmail Chat”, Google hopes to attract users by offering instant messaging without the need for a separate program.
The new feature will also allow users to keep a running record of instant messaging conversations, in turn archived in Gmail. Those who do not wish to record conversations can turn-off the feature.Google, who made the news this week for their tough stance against BMW for allegedly manipulating search results, are also partnering with another vehicle manufacturer, Volkswagen, to devise the latest in-car navigation technology.Rather than using the established vector graphics displayed in current navigation technology, the partnership hope to devise a product that plots your path using Google Earth images and points-of-interest (POI).
