Shoppers getting healthier

People are spending more than ever on healthy food, reveals the latest Government figures. Fruit and vegetable sales are up by 2.8%, wholemeal bread sales increased by 24.2%, and semi-skimmed milk sales are up by 8.9%. In the same period, ice cream sales have fallen by 8.7% and sales of fats and oils decreased by 2.3%. The average person in the UK spends £34.31 per week on food and drink. Spending on food and drink to be eaten at home has risen by 7.2%, and spending on meals out has increased by 25%.
