Tomorrow is World Fair Trade Day
A celebration of ethically sourced produced will take place tomorrow – World Fair Trade Day. The day, which is celebrated every second Saturday in May, gives consumers the chance to add some different fair trade goodies to their shopping basket as well as celebrating the Fair Trade movement through a range of events. This year’s theme focuses on the unique role of Fair Trade organisations. One such organisation in Gateshead will this year use World Fair Trade Day to raise awareness of its initiative which gives travellers the opportunity to experience life in the communities behind the fair trade produce. Traidcraft’s Meet the People Tours include a 14-day South Africa tour, which is just one of several available in November. Other options include a tour of Southern Thailand which takes the group into the tropical highlands to stay two nights in a local village, as well as experiencing life in a typical fishing village and meeting craft groups born out of the tragedy of the tsunami. Traidcraft has been running a variety of tours for about 20 years and the Meet the People Tours received a “highly commended” in the latest Responsible Tourism awards, in the Best Tour Operator category For more information visit www.traidcraft-tours.com or call 0870 444 1774 for the latest brochure.
