Tourism network puts North East England on map
North East England’s new tourism delivery structure, Tourism Network North East, is now well on the way to becoming fully established and operational. The Network comprises One NorthEast Tourism and four Area Tourism Partnerships (ATP): Northumberland Tourism, County Durham Tourism, Tees Valley Tourism, and Tourism Tyne and Wear. The ATPs are new, public-private sector partnerships, each with their own independent Board of Directors and Chief Executive. They are funded by local authorities, One NorthEast via the sub-regional partnerships, and private industry. In future, they will be the main port of call for advice, guidance and support for all tourism businesses in the region. On a regional level, One NorthEast Tourism will continue to be responsible for marketing the region and investing in support infrastructure like the new “Desti.ne” e-business platform for the tourism sector. Giles Ingram, Executive Director, Northumberland Tourism, said: “These are exciting times for tourism in the region. With everyone working together there is a great dynamism to ensure that visitors have a quality experience and want to come back again.”
