NE businesses urged to go global

North East firms are being urged to take on the world as UK Trade & Investment unveiled plans for International Business Month 2007. Now in its third year, the event brings together experts from across the region to offer new and existing exporters the chance to find out about the many opportunities available overseas and how targeting new markets can help their business grow.

David Coppock, UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Director, said: “International trade is a key element of a successful North East economy and the region continues to perform well, with more than £10 billion worth of goods and services exported each year. “Working with our many partners across the region - including One NorthEast and the North East Chamber of Commerce - we are committed to ensuring the region’s companies have the knowledge and skills they need to succeed overseas.”

International Business Month will be held in March 2007. Events will be held across the region covering many aspects of international trade, and UK Trade & Investment’s team of International Trade Advisers will be on hand to offer advice. A reception will be held on Friday 23 March 2007 to celebrate the region’s achievements and provide an opportunity for delegates to network and build new contacts.

Mr Coppock said: “Our aim is to raise awareness of the many international trade opportunities and the assistance available to the region’s companies hoping to exploit those opportunities as well as offer practical advice and assistance to new and existing exporters to help them achieve their goals.”

Full details of the International Business Month 2007 events will be unveiled early next year. To find out more or to register your interest contact the North East International Trade Hotline on 0845 05 05 054 or email enquiries@ukti.rito.co.uk.
