North East tourist campaign goes Dutch
A campaign promoting the North East as a short-break destination will be going Dutch this winter. More than 10,000 Dutch people who are interested in walking and cycling will be targeted by an email campaign as well as a fully translated www.visitnortheastengland.com/offers website. It follows the success of last year’s One NorthEast Autumn Winter campaign which generated over 60,000 responses from potential visitors. The organisation wants visitors to take advantage of the region’s air and sea links with the Netherlands.
Tania Robinson, Head of Marketing at One NorthEast said: “The Autumn Winter campaign is aimed at attracting domestic visitors to the region during the quieter months but extending this campaign abroad provides a cost effective way of reaching more visitors. It is also a chance to make the most of our quick and convenient air and sea links with the Netherlands where we are building a growing reputation as a walking and cycling destination. “Visitor numbers are traditionally lower at this time of year but as the campaign highlights, there are a fantastic number of things to do in the region whatever the time of year.”
