Mentors sought for creativity programme
The Big Ideas team based at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) in Sunderland is putting a call out to the region’s creative individuals. The programme is currently delivering a series of workshops to promote creativity amongst secondary school teachers and training providers in Tyne and Wear, and they are looking to recruit ‘mentors’ to deliver the new initiative’s sessions.
The ‘stepping up to creativity’ workshops are designed to make the learning experience more enjoyable for both teachers and pupils. The first in a series of four workshops was delivered in January. Titled ‘generating ideas’ it outlined the programme’s aims, paving the way for the remaining three workshops – ‘from ideas to opportunity’, ‘making it happen’ and ‘engaging and motivating others’ which will be delivered in the next three months.
To ensure the continued success of the programme, the Big Ideas team are seeking creatively minded individuals who have an insight and understanding of developing creative projects within schools. Anyone who feels they could become a mentor, helping to support the teachers and trainers throughout all curriculum areas, are encouraged to apply. To apply to be a mentor, send a one-page CV with a short section on what you have accomplished within education based activities to lisa.smith@ne-bic.co.uk. All expressions of interest must be received by Friday 9 March 2007.
