Tyneside map leads to top honours
A map of Newcastle and Gateshead has led to a County Durham company winning a prestigious industry award. Newton Aycliffe company Hillprint Media printed the WalkRide Pedestrian Map which took the Chairman’s Special Award at the Howard Smith Paper Graphic Design and Print Awards held in London recently.
The map – which is given out free at Tourist Information Centres – is an easy-to-follow guide to the major attractions on both sides of the Tyne and was applauded for its concise information and thoughtful design. The industry awards attract entries from across the UK, making it a particularly impressive achievement for Hillprint Media and the Chairman’s Award is considered particularly important as it covers excellence in both design and print.
Richard Mortimer, managing director of Hillprint Media, said: “It’s extremely gratifying to us to be singled out in this way, especially in awards that are fiercely competed for in our industry.”
This is the second honour for the County Durham company in recent weeks, having also seen the football programme they produce for Middlesbrough AFC named as Programme of the Year.
