First LEGI grant awarded in Wansbeck

An Ashington social enterprise is the first to receive funding from the Wansbeck Local Enterprise Growth Initiative. Dinamic Ceramics has been awarded £1500 under the Flexible Funding for Business Development Scheme, which will go towards improving the company’s IT capabilities. Dinamic Ceramics has also produced a limited edition Go Wansbeck coaster specially for the LEGI launch event.

Keith Raine, LEGI programme manager, said: “[Dinamic Ceramics’] thriving business is testament to the great skills Wansbeck has to offer. It is particularly apt that they were involved in the launch in this way – with a gift for guests in Wansbeck made in Wansbeck by Wansbeck people. We are very pleased that Dinamic Ceramics is the first enterprise to receive a LEGI grant and look forward to see them prosper and grow over the coming months and years.”

Garry Dawson, Dinamic Ceramics’ managing director, said: “We were delighted to be asked to do this to promote Wansbeck. We supply businesses across the country with unique corporate gifts and souvenir items, but it’s great to be part of something that’s going to make a difference to a lot of people in our local area. “The LEGI grant will make a huge difference to our business and help us grow. Most importantly, we will soon have the most advanced ceramics digital equipment available so that all production is based locally. The equipment will also allow us to train a new employee we hope to take on through Job Centre Plus and Wansbeck Works.”

Mr Dawson also praised the aid the grant offers to social enterprises who often use volunteers and need such funding to help with training requirements.
