Business Link takes step towards gold standard
Business Link North East has taken a major step forward towards delivering a new “gold standard of business support” across the region following a significant investment in staff training.
The organisation has now worked with dozens of its staff to complete a course of SFEDI (Small Firms Enterprise Development Inititative) training and ILM (Insititute of Leadership Management) training. The nine-month training scheme, run by Assessment North East (ANE), saw Business Link skills brokers complete a self-competence review, training needs analysis and several training sessions on key business areas.
Alastair MacColl, chief executive of Business Link said: “We want to create nothing less than the best business support network in the best region of the UK and deliver a relevant, effective gold standard of business support. With this work now complete we’re well on our way to achieving our ambitious goals. “Wherever customers access the Business Link service throughout the region, they now know they will access the same high quality support.
“By combining the best of existing local knowledge with a new and added value regional overview and now a recognised high level of skills, we’re in the position to make the very most of the region’s businesses and entrepreneurial spirit.”
Nationwide, only two regions completed the training process and the North East skills brokers were one of those two. The Learning and Skills Council and Assessment North East worked together with Business Link North East to achieve this standard.
