Assess your environmental compliance

By Rachel Moss of Business Link

Environmental issues are becoming a significant consideration for all businesses as the amount and scope of environmental legislation increases. Stakeholders such as employees, customers, suppliers and investors are also more and more aware of, and interested in, the environmental impact of businesses. To help North East businesses comply with environmental regulations, we’ve launched a new online tool called ‘assess your environmental compliance’.

This self-assessment tool will help you find out what you need to do to comply with environmental legislation and it is anonymous - you do not need to enter your details, and no-one will check up on you. After completing the questions you will receive environmental guidance that is specifically relevant to your business. Your answers will generate a final report with guidance on the regulations that you must comply with and the permits, licences and exemptions that you may need.

This interactive tool uses a short questionnaire to help you comply with the law and avoid fines and prosecution, save money by using your resources more efficiently and improve your business’ competitive edge. The tool is quick and easy to use. It should take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete, depending on the number of activities that are relevant to your business and you can save and print your final report so that it can be reviewed at a later date.

To help the region’s businesses comply with regulations like these, the Business Link website includes a range of handy, user-friendly tools that can be accessed at the touch of a button, so you don’t even have to pick up the phone or leave the comfort of your home or office. This tool is just one of the features on the website’s newly enhanced environment and efficiency section, which also includes other tools, advice and guides on environmental topics from pollution control, running a sustainable business as well as a broad range of areas of business support.

The website enables you to access key information at the touch of a button 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However if you would like to discuss this with one of our team we’re always at end of the phone.

Business Link’s substantial team of expert brokers operate across the region in local access points and on a mobile basis. For further information about Business Link, visit www.businesslinknortheast.co.uk or call 0845 600 9 006.
