One NorthEast named investor in excellence

One NorthEast has been named an Investor in Excellence, the first Regional Development Agency in the UK to gain the award. Accredited by North of England Excellence, One NorthEast achieved Investors in Excellence status by meeting the defined national standard against each of the nine criteria of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model. The Excellence Model deals with every aspect of an organisation’s activities, and Investors in Excellence is recognised as powerful evidence of an organisation’s capabilities and performance.

Mr Clarke said: “We are delighted to receive this award. It is recognition of our commitment to drive for continuous improvement in all areas of the organisation. “Back in 2004, the agency embarked on an essential journey to define our fundamental ways of working and the results we achieve, and today we have been recognised for these efforts. “Investors in Excellence status ensures that One NorthEast performs its work to an internationally recognised quality standard - aiming for excellence in everything that we do and always looking for ways we can improve.”

The Agency first registered for the Investor in Excellence programme in 2004, and embarked on an action plan for improving performance against the nine areas of the standard. The assessment was carried out in July at One NorthEast and the report highlights key strengths within the agency, including a professional and respectful team at all levels, supportive culture and a true passion for making a difference in the region.

Mr Clarke said: “We have set an ambitious vision, to be the best economic regeneration agency in the UK. “We are committed to developing our employees and creating an environment characterised by continuous learning, an entrepreneurial, can-do spirit and a team orientation - all a key part of achieving this vision.”
