Kelly is Adept entrepreneur
Following an unexpected nomination by Abbey Bank, a local entrepreneur has been shortlisted for a regional business award.
A redundancy 16 months ago from her role as Business Manager for a specialist recruitment group gave Kelly Adamson the nudge she needed to establish her own specialist recruitment firm, Adept Professional Services Ltd.
Just ten months since she began trading, Kelly’s achievements were such that she was shortlisted under the ‘Best Newcomer’ category for the North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2007.
The awards are organised by Women into the Network (WIN), a women’s business network initiative based within Durham Business School, Durham University.
Kelly said: “The approach by Abbey Bank was a pleasant surprise, especially as I had originally decided against applying, based upon the length of time that Adept had been trading. When Abbey brought the news that I was shortlisted, I was absolutely delighted. It was a wonderful moment.”
Inspired by a career within the recruitment industry but with concerns regarding service levels and depths of consultation, Kelly established what she calls her ‘deliberately different’ service.
BBC Radio Newcastle’s Julia Hankin will announce the winner of the award at an awards dinner at The Sage, Gateshead on 16 November.
