Northumbria University training coup in China

Northumbria University has been awarded ‘Approved Training Provider’ status by the Chinese Government, following success with recent bespoke courses for Government officials.

Only a handful of UK universities have been awarded the status. The announcement was made at the Foreign Experts Conference in Shenzen, attended by Tony Hackney, Director of Northumbria’s commercial arm, Northumbria Commercial Enterprises.

Tony said: “We have been proactively promoting Northumbria University’s training expertise in China for the past four years and are delighted to have now earned this prestigious status. Our training business with China continues to go from strength to strength and in the past few years we have provided a range of bespoke courses for some of China’s leading meteorologists, financiers and transport officials.”

Northumbria University already has links with a number of universities across China and currently attracts around 1,000 Chinese students to its Newcastle campus. It is also working with Beijing-based Hyde International Training to provide a courses in human resources, culture, government policy and management.

Tony Hackney said: “We have had tremendous feedback from the delegates who have attended our bespoke courses in the past few years but the new status bestowed by China’s Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs will enable us to offer a growing training programme to both Government organisations and the private sector in China.”
