Last chance to vote on North East Christmas Movies
24 December is the public’s last chance to vote for their favourite of 5 Christmas films written, directed and produced in the North East for an online advent calendar.
The five films are showcased on North East Movies (www.northeastmovies.co.uk), and were made through regional screen agency Northern Film & Media’s Christmas Micro Movies Scheme.
The films featured in the on-line advent calendar are; Tis the Season, by Bev Fox; Family Christmas by James Harris; Tentaclaus, By Mark Jobe; Boxing Day, by Liz Paterson; and The Big Surprise, by Jack Tarling. Thousands of people in the region have already viewed the films that have been online since 10 December.
The film and competition are showcased on www.northeastmovies.co.uk, a new website aimed at providing a platform for the filmmakers of the North East.
Helen Stearman, Production and Development Manager at Northern Film & Media, said: “The North East Movies site provides a genuinely global platform for filmmakers in the North East. It is not simply for films made through Northern Film & Media Schemes, as anyone can upload their work provided they live in the region. The quality of the films on the site is high, it is easy to navigate and engaging for the viewers. We’ve had terrific feedback from organisations across the country keen to learn about the technology we’ve employed on the site. I think we’re only now seeing where this site can go and where it could take the films and the filmmakers featured on it.”
