Firm on track with contract success
A Gateshead firm has finished a £1.3m contract with the London transport authority. Protective coatings specialist, the Pyeroy Group, has successfully completed the deal to refurbish North London’s Iron Bridge with Transport for London (TfL).
The work has been completed in several phases during the last three years as part of an on-going refurbishment programme for TfL to upgrade and improve London’s transport system infrastructure.
The contract saw Pyeroy act as the principal contractor completing traffic management, scaffold, grit blast and paint, refurbishment, concrete and steel repair work to the superstructure as well as repainting the bridge soffits.
The firm was also responsible for planning and co-ordinating the possession works with Tubelines, TfL, Metronet and London Underground before completing the project last year to the client’s complete satisfaction.
Brendan Fitzsimons, director of Pyeroy’s Industrial Division, said: “This has been a very demanding project, requiring careful planning and scheduling to ensure the work was completed without interfering with the running of train and tube services. “Working over busy underground tracks meant that we not only had strict health and safety rules to observe, but had to use our planning expertise to co-ordinate logistics and timings as precisely as possible.”
