Award for North East media professionals
Media professionals in the North East are being sought out by Channel 4 for a new award scheme. The broadcaster is looking for people who are currently trying to continue or resume a media career based in North East England.
The Voice of the Regions Award is aimed at encouraging people who have recently faced difficulties in continuing, developing or returning to a career in the broadcast/new media sector, focusing on a different region each year; beginning with the North East in 2008.
The award consists of a £2,000 prize, 6 months’ paid work experience with independent production company Media 19 and access to a Channel 4 mentor for 2 years - a combined value of £15,000. To apply, you must demonstrate why you qualify for the award, tell us about your recent experience and why you wish to develop your career in the North East.
The scheme is the brainchild of The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) - the trade charity of the UK film and TV industry. Glynn Ryland, Head of Development at the CTBF said: “Our talent scheme has been an instant success with many industry sponsors. We are delighted that Channel 4 are now also partnering with us, as this endorses The John Brabourne Awards as a significant programme of help for those struggling to develop their careers.”
To download an application form and find further details of the award and how to apply visit www.ctbf.co.uk/johnbrabourneawards. (click on the link to the Channel 4 Voice of the Regions Award). The closing date for applications is Thursday 14 February.
