A secure future for SPP
A new security firm has been set up in Sunderland with help from a local social investment programme. John Edward Bailey decided to start SPP Security to improve pay and conditions for his staff and make a difference in the communities in which they work.
He received help from Enterprising Futures, a Sunderland business start-up and enterprise development scheme. The programme has so far attracted over £500,000 of inward investment and created over 80 micro businesses.
The scheme helps develop business ideas like SPP Security and assist in the production of business plans and provide assistance when applying for loans, through a system of support and advice.
John said: “One of my aims with the business is to work for the people of Sunderland along with the local authorities to help tackle anti-social behaviour in problem areas. I see this as a security firm with a social conscience.
“Although we are based in Sunderland and proud of it, we are also rapidly expanding with work in Glasgow, Nottinghamshire, London and Wales. I’m really looking forward to the future and to continue working with Enterprising Futures.”
