Flexible new business adds up for Diane

A South Tyneside woman is facing down small businesses’ fear of accounting as part of her new career move. Diane Neale, from Hebburn, had the inspiration to start up her own business after her son’s first birthday.

Diane said: “Having our son Matthew is a brilliant and rewarding experience, but I wanted to start up my own business, Diane Neale Business Services, so I could also fit in with his needs. “Matthew was not only my inspiration to start up, but he was the one that started it all off for me. His first birthday party was in August last year and this is where a friend suggested the idea of starting my own business.”

Diane has attended many Inland Revenue training courses and spotted a niche for her services when she would sit next to other small businesses. She added, “Many people on these courses did not really want to keep their own accounts, and a few of them were nervous of getting the figures wrong and genuinely did not want to do them for themselves. This is what first prompted me into saying ‘I could help them’.”

For the last fourteen years Diane has worked for a subsidiary company of Northumbrian Water. She is also a Member of the Association of Accredited Technicians (MAAT). She is looking to help many sole traders from window cleaners to tilers, as well as new business start-ups.

Diane said: “This is a great opportunity for me to start my own business as South Tyneside is fast becoming an area of opportunities and I hope to grab mine with both hands.”
